I was inspired by the prosthetic topic, the personalized leg or arm from AltLimbPro, and the work of Viktoria Modesta.
I wanted to create an arm or a hand that would have its own aesthetic and theme, like a piece of art. I decided to take my inspiration from the mineral volumes and textures, also because it gives this feeling of strengh, and invicibility like a stone.
First, I used MakeHuman to create a body, then I used Rhino to extract just the arm (Create a box around the part you want to delete>Boolean tool>Difference).
Then I modified it, took out the joints from the volume of the hand, and also the wrist.
The idea is too cut the main parts of the hand in solid thick Plexiglas, and the joints in a soft material like Eva Foam.
I imported all the shapes on Slicer, chosed the slacked slices, and tried different orientations in order to get an irregular shape, with layers disposed in a random, organic way, like minerals.
.
I did a few tests on the Plexiglas before cutting :
Test A : speed = 120, power = 75, corner power = 40 > Fisrt test, not enough power it didn't go through
Test B : speed = 40, power 100, corner power = 50 > Still didn't go through, but the maximum power is 100 so you have to low the speed so the laser stays longer on the same position
Test C : : speed = 20, power = 100, corner power = 30 >
Test D : Bottom left square : speed = 10, power = 100, corner power = 30 >
Test E : I changed the height of the laser manually and put it lower, so it would increase the power, then speed = 15, power 100, corner power = 30 > this time the power was strong enough but I saw some light and sparks under the Plexiglas so I stopped the machine
Test F : speed = 20, power = 100, corner power = 30 > Final test, the cutting is good

I assembled all the plexiglas pieces together with a special glue :
Then I added the joints, cut in non-woven wool.
The shapes created by the glue in between the Plexiglas slices is very interesting, really reminds of a stone texture.
