Modular Flower wax fabric

Assignment Project Description

The students will have to design and fabricate a modular reconfigurable system or seamless garments. The soft connection can be designed to be implemented in the assembly of a garment, being applied on the seams or it can be designed as single elements that act as construction parts of a garment. The whole process needs to be documented on the personal webpage. Their task is to upload their open source file, accompanied by a manual of materials and a tutorial of how to make it and track its life throughout the whole course. Keep metrics of it while the duration of the course, use social media to share and track its spreading,.

to manufacture a modular garment collar : Polygon is the basic shape of my design. my design is inspired by the Dutch wax.

MODULE

1/Assemble the fabric modules

The 2 connectors must be well connected and arranged symmetrically

2/The polygonal shape of the module makes it possible to create a curved modular structure around shapes

By connecting the modules, the fabric is weakened but resists.

3/Shoulder garment assembly.
Each module is numbered from 1 to 13. from top to bottom

on the left side symmetrically to the right side.

Improvements and Challenges

The next research on this prototype will be to test the cutting on different fabrics (synthetic silk, taffeta, leather…) with the same design.

Look for a complete garment (tunic, suit…).
