=== Bootcamp Paris - Camelia Shanahan ===

I'm an Irish based knitwear designer and creator of Meli Bondre Knitwear (www.melibondre.com), a collection of quirky crochet and knitwear. I've been interested in e-textiles, wearable electronics for some time, but I haven't had the opportunity to implement it in my fashion design work.

The only tech-garment that I created is a fibre optic dress that I put together for a charity fashion show:

I look forward to this week's workshop and hopefully, I will have something worth showing at the end of the bootcamp :-)

DAY 1

DAY 2 - 3D Printing on Textiles

I decided to print the snap design as per instructions in “How to 3D Print Onto Fabric” post from Instructables: http://www.instructables.com/id/How-to-3D-Print-Onto-Fabric/. The files required for printing are bundled in a zip file downloadable from the same post. The design consists of a female piece and a male piece, and there are 3 snaps of each included in the stl files.

Materials

I've chosen a knitted fabric, interlock structure, full body fabric for this workshop. I'm using a FlashForge 3D printer with a bed 22cm x 14cm and PLA 1.75mm diameter.

Method

I intended to experiment using the double-sided tape method, so I attached a few strips of tape at the back of the fabric and then onto the printer's plate. The tape worked well and after removing the first printed piece, the tape strips remained attached onto the plate, therefore I was able to reuse them when printing onto the second piece of fabric.
