Day 01 . Monday. September 11 , 2017

I am very happy for being able to join the Textile Academy Bootcamp Paris 2017 in this very very busy week ! As I have just known (in the weekend) about it and done my subscription exactly in time to go on, it was not possible to have the enough free time to do everything I wanted but I will do my best to try to at least think about the content even if I dn't have the time to do all practices or hands on.

I'm an Irish based knitwear designer and creator of Meli Bondre Knitwear (www.melibondre.com), a collection of quirky crochet and knitwear.
I've been interested in e-textiles, wearable electronics for some time, but I haven't had the opportunity to implement it in my fashion design work.

Bioplastic experiment

Together with Inger Le Gué we tried out 4 different recipes of making bioplastics. Each recipe has been colors in a different shades of food color (to later know which was which). We tied casting on different surfaces. Trying casting on acrylic, wood, MDF, cardboard, aluminium foil and baking paper. It was lots of fun! Though we did not realize beforehand that cooking these ingredients would smell so bad. Our main problem w…

Romain/Fabricademy/DAY1

----------

After this very interesting first day of Fabricademy, I wanted to bring together what we learnt with our chain of design and production at Fablab Digiscope. For this 1st day assignment, I used Illustrator CS5, Corel Draw 6, and an Epilog laser-cutter Mini Legend 40W. The material I cut was 3mm thick natural leather. I had bought the leather from La Réserve des Arts (

I'm an information scientist with a background in human-centered multimedia, but currently working as an e-commerce stylist.
For my bachelor thesis I did a conceptual design for a wearable system for musicians on the road and for my master I did research on textile parameters. Even though my studies is quite broad my interest keeps going towards wearables and fashion technology. I'm also very interested in how the arts can be combined with tech and science.
