Week 5: E-Textiles and Wearables I / KOBAKANT

This week, the girls from Kobakant show us all about soft electronics and the materials we can use for it. We also had a really good class with Emma, who teached us the basis of electronics and programing with and ATtiny 84.

ASSIGNMENT

Make a soft sensor (piezoresistive, resistive or contact), and plug to a led light and battery.

1. ACCORDION SENSOR / PIEZORESISTIVE + CONTACT SENSOR

INSPIRATION

WHAT

Sensor inspired by the cords use in clothing and the pleats of the felt. I try 2 different ideas in the same piece: 1) reduce the resistance and 2) make contact when you pull the cord.

STEPS

1) DRAW THE SCHEMATICS

2) TRY THE DIFFERENT MATERIALS: I try the different types of conductive materials and measure the resistance of each one.

3) SOLDER: I wanted to use little leds so I had to figure it out how to solder them. Finally I use copper tape to attach them.

4) STITCHING

5) ASSEMBLY
